Denise Lawson's luminous sequence of fourteen poems is a sensual articulation of spiritual incandescence, A crown, a chandelier, a lit hat. Sunlit with the rose - nudged milky green of plein-aire painting and a hagiographic glow, The earth spins on a pedestal / and sleeper – who rests fiercely ... – yet / even as the rest slips through your fingers / the yolk remains / a tiny saint dangling / in the eye of a needle.
